JONESBORO, Ark. – Madison Holmes played her best round of golf at the Lady Red Wolves Classic on Tuesday, helping herself secure sixth place after 54 holes. She led the Bears to a ninth-place finish in the Bears' first event in the Natural State this year.
Holmes was the definition of consistent across 54 holes: although her seven birdies aren't eye-popping, she paired them with hardly any blemishes, especially on Tuesday. A 2-under 70 took her from a fringe-top-ten standing to approaching the top-five, and she finished third among the 95 golfers with 39 pars. Her final score of 217 was a single stroke above par for the three rounds, and marks the second-straight top-ten finish for the junior.
Ayami Takahashi rounded out a 4-over 76 for her final round, capping a 223 final score. She led all Bears with ten birdies across 54 holes, adding two more on Tuesday.
Pim-Orn Thitisup played her way to a 78 on her final 18 holes, finishing strong down the stretch with a pair of birdies on her final five holes. The senior ended with six birdies across her three rounds.
Valeria Ramirez saved her best golf for last, capping her performance with a 2-over 74 on Tuesday. The sophomore added three more birdies to her count, logging six across 54 holes. Gudrun Thornsteinsdottir, playing as an individual, put together a third-round score of 77, finishing with a 236 after 54 holes.
Camila Moreno finished two strokes behind her after a final round of 78.
Arkansas State won its own event, winning by 12 strokes ahead of ULM. Samford had the second-best round of the day to move into third place, after an even 288. Texas A&M Commerce's Benz Far-arun won a four-hole playoff to take home the individual crown, beating out Little Rock's Anna Dawson. ULM's Daniela Campillo finished in third place.
