Sugar Bears Take on Razorbacks in Friday Morning Matchup

CONWAY, Ark. – Game two is on the horizon for the Central Arkansas women's basketball team, this one against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Tipoff at Bud Walton Arena is set for 10:30 a.m.

The Sugar Bears dropped their opening game at Kansas State on Monday, falling in Manhattan, Kan. Despite the loss, Central Arkansas found bright spots, with newcomers Kyjai Miles and Parris Atkins each scoring in double-figures in their Sugar Bear debuts. Sophomore guard Randrea Wright got her teammates involved in the flow of the offense, dishing out four assists in the season opener.

Friday's matchup marks the third time that the Razorbacks and Sugar Bears have faced off, and each time, Central Arkansas has had a 15+ point scorer.

Arkansas opened its season with a 70-50 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday. Leading from start to finish, the Razorbacks had four players in double-figures, led by Samara Spencer and Erynn Barnum's 15 apiece. The Arkansas defense held Pine Bluff under 40 percent shooting in all four quarters, as the Golden Lions finished the game shooting 29 percent from the floor.

Head coach Mike Neighbors starts his sixth season as head coach of the Razorbacks, nearing 100 wins at the program. Already fourth in wins in Arkansas history, Neighbors needs just three wins to hit the century mark. He has led his alma mater to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments, and nears 200 wins for his head coaching career.

Tipoff against the Razorbacks is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Friday. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network+, with live stats available here.
