CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas beach volleyball team returns to action for the first time at home as the Beach Bears host the Beach Bear Invitational on Friday and Saturday. UCA welcomes North Alabama, Hendrix, and Little Rock to the Beach Bear Sand Courts.
 
Earlier this week Evelyn Griffith and Faith Hasness earned SLC Pair of the Week. The tandem of Griffith and Hasness were key to UCA's 2-0 day at the Bear Challenge on Friday, March 26. The pair won their first matchup of the day against Ottawa's No. 2 duo 21-9 and 21-16. Griffith and Hasness came up huge for Central Arkansas against Missouri State. The dynamic UCA duo won the first set 21-15, but dropped the second set 22-20. With the overall match tied at 2-2, the match was determined by the winners of the No. 2 matchup. Hasness and Griffith were resilient in the third set as they won their matchup and secured the 3-2 victory for UCA. Griffith and Hasness have been solid all season for the Beach Bears as they have recorded an 11-8 record at the No. 2 spot.
 
UCA enters the weekend with an 11-8 record. Aly Brinkley and Colene Hamilton lead the Beach Bears in the No. 1 spot for UCA and have compiled a 10-9 record and the pair has won six of the last 10 contests.
 
UCA opens play on Friday against the North Alabama Lions. Central Arkansas holds a 4-0 series lead over North Alabama, including two wins earlier this season. The Lions are led by Maya Dickson and Taylor Seney in the No. 1 position. North Alabama enters the weekend with a 7-6 record.
 
This will be the fourth meeting with the Warriors and the Beach Bears have won all three of the previous meetings, including a 5-0 victory earlier this season. Hendrix has a 2-7 record coming into the weekend. The Warriors are led by Avery Stephens and Kyler Greenlee at the No. 1 spot.
 
Prior to Saturday's match against North Alabama, Central Arkansas will honor its seniors for Senior Day.
