CONWAY, Ark. – The University of Central Arkansas beach volleyball team returns to the road for the Horned Frog Challenge hosted by TCU. The tournament will be Friday and Saturday. UCA will be joined by No. 15 TCU, No. 13 FIU, Southern Miss, and UAB.
 
The Beach Bears are coming off of a 5-0 weekend at the Shoals Beach Bash. Central Arkansas was led by Aly Brinkley and Colene Hamilton in the No. 1 position and the tandem went 4-1. Evelyn Griffith and Faith Hasness played at the No. 2 spot for the Beach Bears and posted a 4-1 mark. Makenna Schmitt and Shannon Stone were in the No. 3 spot and posted a perfect 5-0 record in the opening weekend. Bria Garmon and Julia Oravec were 4-1 in the No. 4 spot. In the No. 5 position, Kayla Cook and Kelsie Sager collected a 5-0 record.
 
UCA opens up against Southern Miss on Friday, March 5, at 10:10 a.m. The Beach Bears won the only meeting, 4-1, on March 15, 2019. The Golden Eagles opened the season against four Top-20 teams where they went 0-4. Southern Miss is led by Kylie Grandy and Abbey Wilson in the No. 1 spot.
 
The Beach Bears and Horned Frogs have met twice before and TCU has won both of those matches. The last meeting was a 4-1 victory for TCU on March 24, 2019. The Horned Frogs are led by the reigning CCSA and AVCA Pair of the Week, Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno Mateeva. TCU has been battle tested already this season, as they have faced four Top-20 teams and went 3-1 in the opening weekend.
 
This will mark the first meeting between UCA and No. 13 FIU. The Panthers enter the weekend with a 3-3 record. Federica Frasca and Roberta Robeiro have a 3-1 record in the No. 1 position and a 1-1 record at the No. 2 spot.
 
The Bears and the Blazers have never met. UAB is coming off of a 3-1 weekend with wins against two Southland Conference foes in New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana. Rachel Tam and Mikayla Law-Hesse have posted a 3-1 record in the No. 1 position.
