Bear Men Win DMR, Women’s DMR Takes Fourth

Day 1 Results

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Central Arkansas men's and women's track & field teams returned to the track for the Southland Conference Championships on Sunday. The men's distance medley relay won and set a new UCA record in the process.

Three program records and 13 personal bests were set on the first day of the conference championships.
 
The squad of Jaron Hamilton, Tristan LaVan, TJ Robinson, and Max Nores set a new UCA record with a combined run of 10:00.82 and won by a full 14 seconds over the second-place team.
 
Kennedy Timmerman, Tamera Rhode, Anna Bommes, and Tamara Reeves combined for a time of 12:12.01 and placed fourth in the distance medley relay.
 
Nores placed fifth in the 5,000m as he recorded the fastest time in UCA history with his effort of 14:24.03.
 
Malik Beasley placed sixth in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 16.02m (52-6.75). Aidan Patton came in ninth with a throw of 15.53m (50-11.50).
 
Tyler Rose posted the fastest time in UCA history with a run of 56.86 and was the fastest in the 400m prelims.
 
Reeves clocked the second-best time of 5:07.67 in the mile prelims. Sara Steimel recorded a personal-best mark of 5:12.96 and produced the sixth-fastest run. Both Reeves and Steimel qualified for the finals on Monday.
 
TJ Robinson had the second-fastest time in the 800m prelims with his run of 1:53.31. Jesse Applewhite also qualified for the finals with his mark of 1:54.87, which was the seventh best in the prelims.
 
Ayana Harris qualified for the 60m hurdle finals with a time of 8.84 and was the fourth-best time in the prelims.
 
Taylor Coleman had the fourth-best mark in the long jump prelims with a career-best distance of 5.73m (18-9.75).
 
Jaden Harris recorded a career-best leap of 6.98m (22-10.75) and qualified for the long jump finals after he produced the fourth-best mark in prelims.
 
Emmanuel Olie qualified for the finals of the 60m with the seventh-fastest time of 6.94.
 
Anna Bommes qualified for the finals with the eighth-best effort in the 800m with her personal-best run of 2:21.01.
 
Hunter Henderson qualified for the mile finals after he posted the ninth-best mark in prelims with his effort of 4:19.35.
 
The women's triple jump will start the day for UCA's field events at 10 a.m., while the men's heptathlon 60m hurdles starts the running events at 10 a.m. All of the information regarding video and live stats can be found at Championship Central.
