CONWAY, Ark. —The University of Central Arkansas women's basketball team had a week off between contests and will face New Orleans for the second-straight game. The Sugar Bears are riding a three-game winning streak and knocked of the Privateers, 47-46, last week. Central Arkansas welcomes New Orleans to Conway, on Wednesday.
Last time out, UCA held UNO to just 46 points for the game. Down the stretch the Sugar Bears relied on stout defense and free-throw shooting to secure the win. The Central Arkansas defense held New Orleans to just six points for the entire fourth quarter.
Lucy Ibeh recorded a team-high 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Tori Lasker finished in double-digits with 11 points and tied for a team-lead three steals.
Briana Trigg added eight points and seven rebounds.
Savanna Walker brought down seven rebounds.
Jayla Cody notched a team-high two blocks.
Ibeh leads active players with 12.0 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game. She also has a team-high 35 steals. Cody leads the team with 13 blocks and is averaging 3.4 rebounds per game. Lasker has 33 assists, which is a team high, and she is averaging 5.1 points per game.
Terri Crawford is second on the team with 5.8 points per game.
Briana Trigg is second on the team with 5.1 rebounds per game and has added 10 steals. Walker has 16 steals, which is second on the team, and is averaging 5.7 points per game.
The Sugar Bears hold an 8-3 advantage in a relatively new series. UCA won the last meeting, which was last week, 47-46. The series in Conway has been a close one and Central Arkansas holds a slight lead, 3-2.
Dionjhae Thomas leads New Orleans with 11.6 points per game, leads the team with 39 assists, and leads the team with 24 steals. Erin Randle is averaging a team-high 5.6 rebounds per game and a team-high 12 blocks.
