Women's Basketball Faces Northern Kentucky on Saturday

CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's basketball team wraps up a three-game home stand on Saturday, facing the Northern Kentucky Norse in hopes of a 3-0 stretch on its home court. Tip-off at the Farris Center is set for 1 p.m.

UCA defeated Alcorn State in its last outing, taking down the Lady Braves 64-48 on Tuesday. Forward Lucy Ibeh dominated with 27 points and 12 rebounds to lift the Sugar Bears to 3-2 on the season. Additionally, Carley Hudspeth had a season-best 15 points, while freshman Randrea Wright put up her fourth game of double-figure scoring this year, netting 13 in the game.

Winners of two in a row, the Sugar Bears' more experienced players have played a large role in the recent success of the team. Ibeh has produced back-to-back double-doubles, leading the team in scoring and rebounding on the year, putting up 16.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Hudspeth has recently found her rhythm from beyond the arc, connecting on seven triples in the last three games, including a season-best three against ULM. Despite not starting a game yet this season, Hannah Langhi has continually provided veteran leadership for a young squad, while backing it up on the court. Langhi has three games of double-digit scoring and tops the roster in blocks, while placing second in made three-pointers, rebounds, assists and steals.

The youth movement, however, is in full effect for the Sugar Bears. With eight freshmen on the team, some of them have filled in and started to find a flow to their game. Wright, winner of two ASUN Freshman of the Week awards, is second on the team in scoring (12.0 ppg) and leads the roster in assists with 17. Jayla Cody, starting in all five games this season, is tied for second on the team in offensive rebounds with seven, while also placing second in blocks with three. The Valdosta, Ga., native also has 27 points and five assists to her season tally.

Northern Kentucky heads south after defeating the Miami Redhawks on Wednesday, 70-59. Junior Ivy Turner dropped 21 points, redshirt-senior Lindsey Duvall scored 20, and the Norse outrebounded the Redhawks 49-29 to come away with the victory.

Duvall and Turner lead Northern Kentucky in scoring, averaging 20.0 and 12.0 points per game, respectively. Duvall, a Mt. Washington, Ky., native, has reached the 20-point mark three times this season, with a season-high 27 against Kent State to open the season. Grayson Rose tops the roster in the rebounding category, pulling in 11.6 boards per contest.

Head coach of the Norse is Camryn Whitaker, now in her sixth season with NKU. Whitaker has 60 wins leading the Norse, and has been an assistant coach on a Kentucky Wildcats team that made the Sweet 16, and a Dayton Flyers squad that earned an Elite 8 bid. In 2019-20, she became the first head coach at NKU to win 20 games in a season in the school's Division I era.

Game time against the Norse is set for 1 p.m. at the Farris Center. A link to follow along with live stats can be found here, while a link to the video stream can be found here.
