Sugar Bears Host Louisiana Monroe on Saturday

CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's basketball team starts its three-game homestand Saturday afternoon as the team plays host to Louisiana Monroe. Tip-off against the Warhawks is set for 1 p.m. at the Farris Center.

Last time out for the Sugar Bears, a road game against the Oklahoma Sooners ended in a loss for UCA. Three Sugar Bears scored in double-figures, led by Lucy Ibeh's 15, with Randrea Wright adding 11 and Hannah Langhi chipping in ten.

Central Arkansas took away some positives from Norman, playing almost even with the Sooners for solid parts of three quarters. In particular, Ibeh's third quarter was a showcase of how the forward can impact games. The Lagos, Nigeria native scored 11 of her points in the quarter, getting to the rim with ease, while effectively playing free safety on the other end, coming away with multiple steals in the frame.

As a young team, UCA relies heavily on getting production out of its younger players, with several of them delivering in big moments. Wright has scored double-figures in each of her first three games, the first UCA freshman to do that since Megan Herbert did so in 2009.

Additionally, Jayla Cody had an efficient game against Hendrix, scoring 11 points in 11 minutes on 5-of-7 shooting. Lashiyah Fowler had a very similarly effective night against Oklahoma, scoring six and pulling down a pair of rebounds in just eight minutes against the Sooners.

Saturday is going to be another test of ball control for the Sugar Bears. Despite turning it over 23 times a game on their own, the Warhawks have forced their opponents into 20 miscues a game as well, with 8.3 coming as live-ball steals for ULM.

The Warhawks also struggle from beyond the arc, with only six made three-pointers thus far in the season. ULM shoots the triple at an 18.2 percent clip, with only guard Kyren Whittington having multiple made threes this season.

In its most recent game, ULM earned their first win of the season, defeating Louisiana College 71-58. Four Warhawks scored double-digit points in the game, led by Gracen Williams' 15. Linda van Schaik posted an 11 point, 11 rebound double-double, and the team shot 32 free throws on the day, taking advantage of 29 fouls committed by Louisiana College.

Louisiana Monroe is coached by Brooks Donald Williams, now in her third season. A long-time head coach at McNeese St., Williams left as the all-time winningest coach in McNeese women's basketball history with 161 victories.

Game time against the Warhawks is set for 1 p.m., at the Farris Center. Live stats for the game can be found here, and a stream link can be found here.
