CONWAY, Ark. - The Central Arkansas men's soccer team kicks off its season with a home match against the UAB Blazers Saturday.

After a successful season a year ago, the Bears will look to start the 2020 season with a good result against the Blazers from Alabama-Birmingham. Last season the Bears finished as Regular-Season Sun Belt Champions along with a 10-7-1 record. The Blazers finished last year with a 3-12-2 record. The teams last met in 2017 in Birmingham, where the Bears fell 2-1.

The Bears are returning multiple starters, including last season's leader for assists, Soren Jensen. Jensen tallied up six goals and seven assists last season. 

"We are very fortunate to be in the position to be hosting a D1 soccer game this weekend. At times throughout the past six months, this seemed very far from possible. Now that we have the opportunity, we know how important it is to seize the moment and not miss our chances to make the most of it." Said an excited Coach Ross Duncan. "We have certainly been able to put each other under pressure but the opportunity to compete against an outside group is something we've been hungry for."

The match is set for a 2 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Bill Stephens Complex.
