CONWAY — After limiting Lamar to just 29 points on Wednesday – a program record for fewest points allowed in a Southland Conference game – the Sugar Bears look to complete the homestand sweep and go for their third straight victory on Saturday when they host McNeese at 1:00pm in the Farris Center.

The Sugar Bears (10-11, 6-6 Southland) have won 8 straight against the Cowgirls (5-16, 2-10), and will be going for the season sweep after defeating McNeese 70-57 in Lake Charles on Jan. 4., hitting a season-high 24 free throws led by Taylor Sells going 10-for-10 en route to a season-high 22 points to go along with 7 rebounds. The Sugar Bears also got 12 points and 6 rebounds from Briana Trigg and 12 and 5 from Alana Canady in the win.

Damilola Balogun had 14 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for the Cowgirls, and she 6-foot senior forward has led McNeese in both categories this season – sporting averages of 11.5 points and a Southland-best 10.2, including 11.8 per game in conference play.

While the Cowgirls come in having lost three straight and six of their last seven, the Sugar Bears will be going for their third straight victory after the record-setting performance against Lamar on Wednesday. In that game, the Sugar Bears not only held the Cardinals to the lowest point total in program history in a Southland game, but outrebounded Lamar 62-28 – their highest rebound total ever against a Division I opponent. Leading the way on the glass was junior forward Hannah Langhi, who pulled down 17 – the most for a Sugar Bear since Megan Herbert (whose 1,446 is most in Central Arkansas history and 2nd all-time in the Southland) had 19 against Nicholls on Feb. 2, 2013.

Langhi was one of two Sugar Bears to finish the night with a double-double, also scoring 12, while Ayanna Trigg added 11 points and 12 rebounds with 4 blocked shots. Sells just missed making it three, getting 10 points and 9 rebounds along with a team-high 5 assists.

The Sugar Bears currently sit in 8th in the Southland standings with 8 league regular-season games remaining, a half game behind 7th-place Southeastern Louisiana and a game up on Lamar for the final spot in the Southland tournament. McNeese is 11th, four games back of the Sugar Bears. After Saturday's game, the Sugar Bears will hit the road for their last two-game trip of the season, visiting 5th-place New Orleans (8-4) and 3rd-place Sam Houston State (9-3) next week before finishing with four of the final five at home.
