CONWAY, Ark. — The University of Central Arkansas women's basketball team will play in its home state for the first time during the 2020-21 season with a road contest against the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions on Tuesday.
The Sugar Bears started the season 0-2, after they played the No. 4 team in the country, Baylor, and a TCU team that was receiving top-25 votes. In the first two contests,
Jalisa Outlaw has played a key role in UCA's strong bench play. Outlaw leads the team averaging 12 points per game, including a career-high 15 points against TCU.
Lucy Ibeh put together two stellar performances and is averaging 10.5 points per game, including a career-high points 15 against TCU. Ibeh is currently tied for the fifth-most steals in the NCAA with 10 and is tied for second in the Southland lead. Ibeh's 5.0 steals per game ranks ninth in the NCAA and first in the SLC.
Hannah Langhi and
Briana Trigg have recorded double-digit points on the season with 11 and 10, respectively. Trigg leads the team with 17 rebounds, followed by Ibeh with 11, and
Jayla Cody with 10.
Tori Lasker is tied for 41st in the NCAA with nine assists and is tied for second in the conference.
This will be the 34th meeting between UCA and UAPB. This will be the first meeting since 2011, which Central Arkansas won 61-38. The Sugar Bears lead the series, 21-12, and have won eight of the last 10 matchups.
The Lady Lions won their season opener against Arkansas State, 85-68. UAPB is led by Tyler Pyburn with 23 points. ShiCoriya Orr has tallied 19 points, Trasity Totten with 17, and Joyce Kennerson rounds out the double-digit scorers with 16. Nissa Sam-Grant leads the Lady Lions with 10 rebounds.
