SUGAR BEARS TRAVEL TO SFA FOR CLASH WITH LADYJACKS

After having their four-game win streak snapped at Nicholls on Saturday, the Sugar Bears will look to get back on track on Wednesday at Stephen F. Austin.

The task won't come easy, however, as the Ladyjacks come in with a 22-4 overall record, 13-1 in the Southland and a perfect 14-0 mark in Johnson Coliseum – with 12 of those 14 victories by double figures. The Sugar Bears came just short of upsetting the 'Jacks in Conway a month ago, falling 59-53 in a game that was as close as one point in the fourth quarter and two possessions in the final minute. In that game, Kamry Orr had 15 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals for the Sugar Bears while Hannah Langhi added 15 points and 5 rebounds. The Sugar Bears held the 'Jacks – the league's top-shooting 3-point team at 35.7 percent – to just 1-of-10 from beyond the arc as kept SFA 19 points below their scoring average.

The Sugar Bears will be looking for their first win in five tries against SFA, last winning 60-35 in the 2017 Southland Conference Tournament championship game. Since then, the 'Jacks have won the last four meetings, the last three by an average of seven points.

• The Sugar Bears and 'Jacks boast the Southland's top two defenses, with UCA allowing a league-best 56.1 points per game and SFA right behind at 56.7, good for 21st and 27th nationally. • Of the Sugar Bears' 7 Southland losses, 6 have come by single digits, with an average margin of defeat of just 6.3  in those games.
