SUGAR BEARS HEAD TO NICHOLLS SEEKING FIFTH STRAIGHT

Following their fourth straight blowout victory on Wednesday, a 76-45 rout of McNeese, the Sugar Bears will look to keep the momentum down the stretch as they travel to Nicholls to face the Colonels on Saturday, seeking revenge after a 64-60 loss in the Farris Center on January 19.

Winners of the last four by an average of 31 points per game, the Sugar Bears head into Saturday's game with the longest active winning streak in the Southland Conference and will be trying to reach five straight Southland wins for the 8th time in program history. Standing in their way is a Colonels squad that sits tied for 3rd in the Southland standings with a 9-4 league mark and is 8-1 at Stopher Gym this season. The Colonels have won four of their last five, winning their last two after falling 76-66 at Abilene Christian on February 13.

The Colonels won the first meeting between the teams this season by scoring 23 fourth-quarter points and holding the Sugar Bears scoreless for 6:37 to begin the 4th, building a lead as large as nine before the Sugar Bears were able to cut it to as little as two in the final minute. In that game, Kamry Orr had 14 points and 5 rebounds and Antonija Bozic had 13 points. The Sugar Bears also got 13 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals from junior guard Taylor Sells, who has missed the last three games with a foot injury. Nicholls got 25 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals from reigning Southland Player of the Year Cassidy Barrios.

The Sugar Bears will be shooting for their fourth straight win in Thibodaux, winning last year's meeting 69-48 behind 32 points from Orr and 12 from Bozic, who was 4-for-4 from 3-point range in 9 minutes.

Saturday's game begins a four-game stretch in which the Sugar Bears will face four of the top five teams in the conference standings in Nicholls (tied for 3rd), Stephen F. Austin (tied for 1st), Abilene Christian (tied for 3rd) and Sam Houston State (5th). The Sugar Bears currently sit 7th in the league standings as they look to make their 9th consecutive Southland Conference Tournament, which takes the top 8 teams.
