NEW ORLEANS — The Sugar Bears begin a two-game road trip on Friday when they meet up with Tulane for the first time in program history at Noon on Education Day at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse. It marks the first of two midday games on the swing for the Sugar Bears, who will also face Northern Kentucky at 10:00am Central on Monday.

The Sugar Bears come in looking to bounce back following a 63-48 loss at Little Rock on Saturday, while the Green Wave has dropped its last two – falling 64-62 to Middle Tennessee last Thursday before coming up just short against LSU on Sunday in a 59-54 defeat. The Green Wave opened the season with an 82-46 win over Jackson State, and defeated Washington 64-62 in Seattle in their lone road game of the season to date.

In the LSU game, Tulane led 31-18 at halftime after holding the Tigers to just 2 points in the 2nd quarter, but were outscored 41-23 in the second half. In similar fashion, the Sugar Bears led Little Rock 31-30 at the break on Saturday but were outscored 33-17 over the final 20 minutes.

Three Tulane players average double figures in scoring, led by 5-foot-9 junior guard Arsula Clark at 18.3 points while tying for the team lead in rebounding at 5.5 per game. Junior forward Krystal Freeman, a preseason First Team All-American Conference selection, averages 12.8 and 5.5. Sierra Cheatham, a 6-foot junior guard, averages 11.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, and has knocked down 12 3-pointers through 4 games this season.

The Sugar Bears have been paced offensively by freshman Terri Crawford at 11.3 points per game, with junior forward Hannah Langhi adding 11 and senior guard Taylor Sells 9.7. Langhi is puling down a team-high 6 rebounds per game, while Crawford is second at 5.3. Sells leads the way with 2.3 assists per game, while sophomore guard Shay Johnson is averaging 2.3 steals to go with her 9 points per game.

NOTES
• Friday's game will pit two of the more successful women's basketball coaches in the country against one another, as Tulane's Lisa Stockton has 588 victories and 18 national postseason trips to her credit while Sugar Bear coach Sandra Rushing has amassed 545 and 11.
• The Sugar Bears are 1-2 against current AAC teams, losing 90-86 to Memphis in 2006 in the first year of Division I play for the Sugar Bears; and going 1-1 against Tulsa - including an 86-77 win in the Farris Center in 2009.
