BEARS GRAB THIRD STRAIGHT SUN BELT CONFERENCE VICTORY

ATLANTA, GA. - It was another impressive outing for Central Arkansas men's soccer, earning a third straight Sun Belt Conference victory after defeating Georgia State 2-0, and improving their conference record to 3-1 on the season.

First Half

  • The Bears came out flying to begin the match, nearly finding the back of the net less than a minute into in on a Soren Jensen effort that was cleared off the line.
  • Jensen would produce another quality effort in the 26th minute, but the Georgia State keeper was equal to the task.
  • The 37th minute saw the Bears open the scoring on a classic Niklas Brodacki header from a Soren Jensen cross. It was Brodacki's 11th goal of this campaign and Jensen's seventh assist this season.

Second Half

  • The second half didn't see many chances created by either team and was relatively quiet for the most part until Vicent Abaso stepped up in the 84th minute and extended the Bears lead to 2-0, scoring his first goal of the season.

The win saw many milestones, including Niklas Brodacki's 50th career goal and head coach Ross Duncan's 50th career win at UCA. The Bears also sit atop the Sun Belt Conference standings with the 3-1 record.

Ross Duncan Quotes

"The boys came out flying tonight. We knew we had to find a way to get on top of them early because they're so strong at home and the intensity we showed from the start really made a difference in the match. We limited their attackers to only a couple of chances in the first half and that really helped get our attack going. We had big performances from a lot of guys. Once again, our center backs proved that they're among the top players in the conference with a really stout performance. Marc was really steady in goal and everyone in front of him all the way up the field contributed to the shutout tonight."
