CONWAY, AR - In their annual Conway Classic match against Central Baptist College, Central Arkansas men's soccer team put on a class display, dominating overall possession and finding the back of the net 10 times.
Central Arkansas finished the match with 81 percent possession and had 26 total shots, hitting 17 on target, compared to just two total shots for the Mustangs.
First Half
- After about 20 minutes of patient build up play, the Bears finally found the back of the net on a beautifully worked goal that was capped off by Jose Carlos Gonzalez from five yards out. It was the Spaniard's first of the season.
- The Bears would get their second goal in the 37th minute from Edoardo Calzola, who slotted it past the keeper on a first time finish from a Soren Jensen ball across the box.
- Alberto Suarez would get into the action for UCA in the 40th minute, striking the ball into the bottom left corner to give UCA a 3-0 lead late in the first half.
UCA finished the first half with 69 percent possession overall.
Second Half
- The Bears would go on a tear in the second half, netting seven goals in the 45 minute span. The first of the second half would come from Niklas Brodacki in the 51st minute. The Swedish striker went on a solo run inside the CBC penalty area and found the roof of the net from five yards out, giving him his sixth goal of the season and putting him just three goals away from breaking the Central Arkansas all-time goal scoring record.
- The Bears would grab another less than a minute later on a Soren Jensen curler from just inside the 18 yard box that glided into the top right corner.
- Calzola would get his second of the night on another classy finish inside the box from a Kasper Andersen cross, giving the Bears a six goal cushion at this point.
- Center back Ole Kjoerholt would grab his first goal of the season on a finish from another Soren Jensen ball across the box.
- Kyosuke Kubota would also net his first goal of the season in the 63rd minute on a finish inside the penalty area.
- The 66th minute would see Alexsi Morel get the ninth goal of the night for the Bears capped off by a final 10th goal from Truls Krabbesund Hansen in the 77th minute.
Of the the 10 goals scored, only one of them was unassisted.
