CONWAY, ARK - It was a tough afternoon for Central Arkansas men's soccer team as they dropped a non-conference home match against Oral Roberts, falling 3-1. Oral Roberts came into today's match with an 11-2 record and improved to 12 wins on the season after defeating UCA.
First Half
- The first 10 minutes saw Oral Roberts retain a lot of possession and generate a chance in the 12th minute on a strike down the middle that was saved by UCA keeper Marc Olsen.
- The Golden Eagles would continue to apply pressure and would open the scoring in the 13th minute on a well taken goal that was finished into the bottom left corner from about 10 yards out.
- After a relatively quiet first half for the Bears, they would finally get their equalizer late in the first half on great build up play involving Kasper Andersen and Niklas Brodacki that was capped off by Soren Jensen, who made no mistake on the finish into the bottom right corner. The match would go into halftime at 1-1.
Second Half
- The second half saw very few chances created early on, but ORU would regain the lead in the 67th minute on an unfortunate own-goal committed by UCA after it deflected off one of the center backs on its way into the back of the net.
- The Bears would have a great equalizing opportunity a minute after conceding, but Alberto Suarez just came up short after rattling the post on a header attempt. It would be the closest the Bears got to equalizing.
- After committing many numbers forward in search of an equalizer, ORU was able to generate a counter-attack in the last moments of the second half and would seal the match with a third goal.
Ross Duncan Quotes
"You could tell why they have the record that they have, it's not by accident. They're good all around and I thought we just didn't do a good enough job in the first half establishing our way of playing. I thought we had to adjust to them and we got back into the game, but in the second half we continued to have to adjust to them and that's not what want to do at all and certainly not at home. We created too many chances for them, especially in the first half and that allowed them to get good goal scoring chances."
