NOTES
• Both teams dropped their Southland openers, with the Sugar Bears falling 73-65 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and the Lady Lions suffering a 62-51 loss to Stephen F. Austin. The Sugar Bears will be looking to avoid their first 0-2 Southland start since 2009-10 when they opened with losses at A&M-Corpus Christi and SFA.
• The Sugar Bears and Lady Lions have two common opponents thus far this season, with each team facing both Alcorn State and Jackson State. The Sugar Bears split in those games, falling 65-56 at Jackson State and winning 57-46 at Alcorn. The Lady Lions won both, winning 77-59 at Alcorn and 50-45 at Jackson State.
• The Sugar Bears were picked 3rd in the Southland preseason poll, while the Lady Lions were selected 9th. Last season the Sugar Bears finished 3rd at 14-4 while the Lady Lions were 9th at 7-11.
• The Sugar Bears are 57-45 (.559) all-time in Southland road games, including a 24-3 (.889) mark the last three seasons. One of those three losses was last season's 78-70 double-overtime loss in Hammond.
• Prior to last season's loss in the University Center, the Sugar Bears had won 8 straight against the Lady Lions – winning 7 of those 8 by double digits (with an average margin of 16.6).
• Through 11 games this season, the Sugar Bears have used 11 different starting lineups. Sophomore Mekaylan Hicks had been the only Sugar Bear to start every game through the first 10 games, but missed Monday's game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi due to a concussion.
• After starting the season just 12 of 94 (12.8 percent) from 3-point range through their first 8 games, the Sugar Bears have connected on 50 percent (20 of 40) in their last 3 games. They will look to continue their improved shooting on the road, where they are just 10 of 58 (17.2 percent) this season – with half of those makes coming in a 5-for-10 effort at Kansas State.
• Senior guard Antonija Bozic returned from a stress fracture, making her season debut against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Monday after missing the first 10 games. Bozic scored 13 points, hitting three 3-pointers. Last season, Bozic scored 20 at Southeastern, hitting 6 of 13 from beyond the arc.
• Kamry Orr – coming off a 27-point/12-assist/9-rebound/3-block/2-steal game against A&M-Corpus Christi – scored 19 points against Southeastern in last season's win in Conway. In the rematch in Hammond, she was held to a single point.
• Southeastern's Celica Sterling – the Southland's 5th-leading scorer at 15.7 points per game – leads the conference and is 30th nationally with 3.08 3pt FG per game, having made 37 on the season. She also leads the Southland in 3-point percentage, knocking down 41.1 percent. The Sugar Bears are allowing their opponents to shoot just 28.2 percent from long distance this season, holding the opposition to 3 or fewer 3-pointers in 7 of their 11 games this season.
• Despite surrendering an average of 71.5 points over their last two games, the Sugar Bears still rank 19th in the country in scoring defense – giving up 54.8 per game.Â
