BIRMINGHAM, Ala. _ The University of Central Arkansas men's and women's track and field teams both finished third out of 20+ teams Friday at the Birmingham Southern Panther Ice Breaker Indoor at the CrossPlex.
   UCA's men finished with 57 total points, getting a first-place from junior Zachary Jewell in the 60 meters and Thomas Hutchison in the pole vault. The UCA women scored 50 points, with Hannah Noble winning the high jump and Teshuna Sheppard taking second in the triple jump and Erin Woodward second in the mile run.
   Noble, a senior from Berryville, Ark., went 5-7 to win the high jump title. Sheppard, a sophomore from Bivins, Texas, jumped 37-08 in the triple jump for second place. Woodward, a junior from Little Rock, ran a 5:09.42 to finish second in the mile and also finished fourth in the 3,000 meters (10:12.24).
   Junior Ajah Criner from Stephens, Ark., scored twice, finishing fourth in the 60 meters in 7.62 and sixth in the 200 meters in 25:03. UCA's 4x400 team finished third (3:58.95) while Jordan Brock was sixth in the 800 meters (2:22.32).
   On the men's side, Jewell ran a 6.75 to win the 60 meters and also finished sixth in the 200 meters (21.94). Hutchison went 13-7.25 to win the pole vault. UCA's distance medley relay team finished second (10:50.84) while Logan Hall finished third in the high jump (6-6.75).
   Freshman Thomas Cain finished second (9:01.56) and Elijah Ankrom was sixth (9:27.82) in the 3,000 meters. Sophomore Jordan Atkins finished third in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8:52. Junior Ryan Yarde was eighth in the 800 meters (2:01.46).
  At the Arkansas State Kickoff Klassic in Jonesboro on Sunday, UCA combined for seven top 5 places, including a gold for freshman Gracie Hyde in the 3,000 meters in her first collegiate indoor meet. Hyde, the Southland Conference freshman of the year in cross country, ran a 10:14.93 to win the event. She also finished fourth in the mile run. Senior Alejandra Ruiz finished second in the 800 meters (2:25.70), while Ajah Criner picked up a third place in the 55 meters (7.12).Â
