BEARS DROP SERIES FINALE AT MISSOURI STATE

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. _ The Missouri State Bears pounded out 11 hits, including a pair of home runs, to down the University of Central Arkansas Bears 4-0 in their series finale on Sunday at Hammons Field.

UCA (6-6) managed just two hits off a trio of MSU pitchers and left just four runners on base. The Bears got two runners on in the second inning, and loaded the bases in the fifth but could not produce a run. The home Bears got a pair of home runs in the fourth inning, including the third of the weekend from shortstop Jeremy Eierman, to take a 3-0 lead.

MSU (10-1) added another one run in the sixth on a base hit, stolen and an RBI single from pinch hitter Drew Millas. Four players had multiple hits for MSU.

UCA starter Brandon Hagerla went four innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs. Freshman Jakob Henry pitched a scoreless fifth inning and junior Tyler Gray went the final three innings, striking out three and allowing the final run.

The Bears play at Vanderbilt on Tuesday (4:00 p.m.) and Wednesday (4), before returning home for their Southland Conference opening series against McNeese State. Game times are 6 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Bear Stadium.
