SUGAR BEARS TO TAKE ON NO. 21 TEXAS A&M

The Sugar Bears kick off a five-game road trip in College Station on Saturday as they meet up with their third Top 25 opponent of the season, facing No. 21 Texas A&M at 1:00pm in Reed Arena.

The game can be heard on The Bear 91.3 and online, with pregame beginning at 12:40, and can be seen online on SEC Network Plus – accessible via the ESPN app/WatchESPN.

After losses to No. 3 Baylor and No. 12 Tennessee, the Sugar Bears (5-2) will take one last crack at a ranked opponent in the non-conference schedule as they meet up with the Aggies (7-2) for the second straight season.

Last season the Aggies dealt the Sugar Bears a 74-49 defeat in the first-ever meeting between the programs.

This season, the Aggies are 6-2 at home with wins over Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, Little Rock, Prairie View A&M, Rice and TCU. Their only two setbacks have come to highly-ranked foes in No. 10 Oregon (83-68) and No. 11 West Virginia (70-56). Their largest margin of victory this season came on the road when they scored a 90-56 win at Texas Tech on Nov. 26.

The Sugar Bears come into Saturday's matchup having won a pair of games this week over lower-division opponents, having defeated Williams Baptist College and Central Baptist College by a combined count of 152-65.

The Sugar Bears will be shorthanded on Saturday as starters Kierra Jordan and Kamry Orr will be serving the last half of their two-game suspensions. Without those two and three others on Thursday, the Sugar Bears got 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists from Taylor Baudoin; 18 points on 6-of-10 3-point shooting from Antonija Bozic; 13 points, 4 steals and 3 assists from Maddie Goodner; 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists from Taylor Sells; 7 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks from Hannah Langhi; and 5 points and 2 rebounds from Savannah Lowe.

The Aggies are the second Southeastern Conference opponent of the season for the Sugar Bears, who are 2-5 all-time against SEC teams with the most recent win coming in 2013, a 66-63 win at Ole Miss in head coach Sandra Rushing's second season at Central Arkansas.

Texas A&M is led by freshman guard Chennedy Carter, who scores 19.4 points per game and has been in double figures in all nine of her collegiate games, and Anriel Howard, who ranks 6th in the nation in rebounding at 12.7 per game while also scoring 12.1 per game. Danni Williams, who had 25 points in last year's game against the Sugar Bears, is the Aggies' second-leading scorer at 14.9 points per game; while Khaalia Hillsman – who had 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks in last year's meeting – averages 12.9 points and 8.4 rebounds.

Following Saturday's game, the Sugar Bears will take a break from action for final exams then resume play on the 16th at South Alabama before playing twice in the FIU Holiday Tournament, playing Clemson on the 20th and either FIU or North Dakota State on the 21st to wrap up the non-conference slate. Southland Conference play begins at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on the 28th, with the home opener against Southeastern Louisiana on New Year's Eve.
