CONWAY — The Sugar Bears are back in action in the Farris Center tonight as they host Crowley's Ridge College at 6:00pm before traveling to Knoxville to take on the 12th-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols on Thursday.
In CRC (3-5), the Sugar Bears (2-1) face an NAIA Division II squad that is 3-5 and coming off an 80-44 loss at home last night to Vanguard University, the 4th-ranked team in the NAIA poll.
Tonight's game will be CRC's second trip to Conway in just over a week, as the Lady Pioneers lost 76-51 at Central Baptist College on Nov. 20. CRC began its current three-game skid with a loss at John Brown University on Nov. 14, and have dropped those three contests by an average of 31.7 points.
Last season the Sugar Bears defeated the Lady Pioneers 102-31, with six players scoring in double figures and eight with at least 8 points. Maddie Goodner had 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks in 25 minutes in that win.
Tonight's game marks the third straight season the teams have met, with the Sugar Bears winning 93-38 in 2015.
CRC is led by senior Chelsie Spence at 13.8 points per game, with freshman Kelcy Acklin at 12.9, junior Alexus Taylor at 11.5 and junior Elly Burrell at 10.0 along with a team-high 8.9 rebounds per game.
Through three games, junior guard Kamry Orr paces the Sugar Bears at 16.3 points per game, while senior forward Taylor Baudoin is averaging 14 points and 7.3 rebounds, and senior center Kierra Jordan averages 13.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2 blocks.
