BEARS FALL TO OKLAHOMA STATE

Conway – The Central Arkansas Bears took a break from Southland Conference play on Wednesday, welcoming the Big 12's Oklahoma State Cowgirls to Farris Field. The Bears saw their five-game winning streak come to an end, as the Cowgirls took them down 17-0 in five innings.

After both sides stranded a runner in scoring position in the first inning, Oklahoma State (21-17) strung together a hit batter, a double, a single, and an RBI fielder's choice to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the second.

The Cowgirls took advantage of a Central Arkansas error to put up five runs in the top of the third inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from designated player Red Reasnor. OSU added eight more runs in the top of the third inning, as Reasnor picked up another three-run bomb.

A two-run homer from Reasnor in the top of the fifth ended the night's scoring.

Right fielder Briana Whisenhunt and shortstop Kate Myers each picked up a hit for Central Arkansas (28-15), while second baseman Sarah Bigej and designated player Bailey Reynolds each collected a walk.

Kayla Gomness (8-4) took the loss for the Bears, allowing a pair of earned runs on four hits in two innings of work. Shivaun Landeros worked 1.2 innings of relief for Central Arkansas, surrendering 12 earned runs on 10 hits and four walks. Nicole Fullilove gave up two earned runs on one hit and a walk in 1.1 innings, while Payton Herman retired the only batter she faced.

Central Arkansas returns to SLC play this weekend, travelling to Hammond, Louisiana, for three games at Southeastern Louisiana. The Bears and Lady Lions will play a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday, before closing out the series with a single game at noon on Sunday.
