The Sugar Bears host their final non-conference game in the Farris Center this afternoon at 2 when they meet up in an all-Conway clash, taking on in-town foe Central Baptist to conclude a four-game homestand.
Following a week off for final exams, the Sugar Bears return to action having won four straight following a loss at No. 23 Texas A&M on Nov. 13 and sit at 5-1 overall. Most recently, they throttled Crowley's Ridge 102-31 on Dec. 2, and have won their last four games by an average of 37.3 points per game, limiting their opponents to just 41.3 points per game. CBC comes into today's game with a 2-8 record. Today's game will be their 2nd of the season against a Southland opponent, as they suffered a 93-42 defeat at Northwestern State on Nov. 21. The Lady Mustangs have played three games against common opponents with the Sugar Bears so far this season, losing 80-75 in overtime to Williams Baptist and splitting with Crowley's Ridge – losing 77-75 in Paragould in the first meeting before rebounding with a 90-65 win in Conway.
Today's game will be the Central Arkansas on-court debut for Kierra Jordan, eligible after a mid-season transfer last season from Southern Miss. The 6-foot-1 junior center averaged 7 points and 4.9 rebounds in just 16 minutes per game in her two seasons at Southern Miss.shooting, 52.7 percent from the floor for teams that went a combined 52-16 with a Conference USA runner-up finish and a pair of WNIT runs to their credit. Senior guard Brianna Mullins enters today's game just five assists away from becoming the program's Division I era career assists leader, trailing Micah Rice's 311.Â
After today's game, the Sugar Bears round out their non-conference slate with a trip to Texas Tech on Wednesday and two neutral-site games next week in San Antonio, taking on Liberty and Houston at UTSA. Southland play begins in the Farris Center against Lamar on Dec. 31 at 2:00pm, the first half of a doubleheader as the Bears follow at 4:00 against preseason favorite Sam Houston State.
