BEARS FALL TO LITTLE ROCK 1-0

Little Rock, Ark. – The Central Arkansas Bears and Little Rock Trojans renewed their rivalry on Wednesday night, facing off for the first time since September 5th, 2012. The Trojans took advantage of a first-half goal and the Bears were unable to convert some promising second-half chances, leading to a 1-0 Trojan victory.

Little Rock (3-2) controlled possession throughout the first half, breaking through in the 31st minute when Caitlin Eddy threaded pass through the middle to Jacqueline Borucki, who slammed it home for her first goal of the season.

Central Arkansas (2-3) took just one shot in the second half, but got off seven attempts in the second half. Shelby Wilson gave the Bears their best chance in the 78th minutes, as she beat LR keeper Sara Small, but the shot caromed off the post. Dayna Mounie followed up a minute later, but Small made the save.

"It was a tale of two halves for us again," said Central Arkansas head coach Jeremy Bishop. "We started slow, picked it up as the game went along, and got ourselves some good scoring chances in the second half, but we couldn't tie it up."

Wilson led the Central Arkansas attack on the day, taking four shots, while Mounie, Kristen Ricks, and Jessica Pantuso each put a shot on goal. In goal, Anna Hughes made five saves during the first half, while Lauren Mercuri made six saves in the second half.

Central Arkansas is back on the road on Sunday, heading to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM.
