SUGAR BEARS PLAYING FOR SEEDING IN FINAL HOME GAME

CONWAY — With its spot in the 2015 Southland Conference Tournament secured, Central Arkansas will spend the final three games of the regular season playing for seeding as the Sugar Bears try to work their way into one of the top four seeds and a first-round bye.

That quest begins on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the final home game of the season as the Sugar Bears (16-11, 9-6 Southland) host Southeastern Louisiana (7-19, 3-12) on Senior Day in the Farris Center. It will mark the final home game for seniors Brittany Agee and Terai Sadler, who both joined the UCA program last season after transferring from Shelton State and Crowder College, respectively.

Agee has played in all 27 games and started 13 this season, averaging 5.0 points, 3.2 rebounds with a 74.3 free throw percentage. In her UCA career she has scored 300 points and grabbed more than 200 rebounds. Earlier this season she had the best game of her UCA career with a 20-point, 11-rebound effort against Central Baptist for her lone double-double.

Sadler has averaged 4.5 points and 4.6 rebounds with a 74.6 free throw percentage, and is coming off a 17-point performance at Sam Houston State on Thursday, equaling her career high set last season against SLU. She has led the team in rebounding five times this season and has scored in double figures three times this year and 10 in her two-year UCA career, in which she has totaled 321 points and 231 rebounds.

The Sugar Bears will be facing a Lady Lion team that has dropped its last seven games and 11 of its last 12, the lone win being a 58-52 upset of Northwestern State back on Jan. 31. The Lady Lions current losing streak began at the hands of the Sugar Bears, who scored a 60-48 victory in Hammond, La. on Feb. 4. In that game, the Sugar Bears got 25 points and 7 rebounds from Maggie Proffitt as the team shot 42.9 percent and limited SLU to just 32.7, keeping the Lady Lions to only 18 second-half points.

With three games remaining, the Sugar Bears are tied with A&M-Corpus Christi for 6th with a 9-6 league mark, but are just half a game back of 10-6 Northwestern State and McNeese State. Nicholls, at 10-5, is 3rd, while Lamar is 2nd at 12-4 and SFA 1st at 12-2. After taking on the Lady Lions Saturday, the Sugar Bears have a chance to gain ground on two of the teams above them in the standings with a two-game road trip to Nicholls and McNeese next week to wrap up the regular season.

The game will be the first half of the home-finale doubleheader, with the UCA men playing in the Farris Center for the last time this season, with a scheduled start time of 4 p.m. against the Lions.
