San Antonio, Texas – The Central Arkansas volleyball team continued their road swing on Saturday afternoon, travelling to San Antonio, Texas to battle the Cardinals of the University of the Incarnate Word. The Sugar Bears outhit the Cardinals .207 to .101 on the night sweep UIW and improve to 3-0 in Southland Conference play.
Central Arkansas (8-7, 3-0 SLC) hit .371 to take the first set 25-16, before taking both the second and third set by scores of 25-22 on hitting percentages of .064 and .231. Incarnate Word (4-10, 0-1 SLC) hit .111 in the first set, .025 in the second, and .188 in the third.
Heather Schnars led the Central Arkansas attack with a match-high 18 kills, while
Evie Grace Singletonchipped in with 12.
Kristine Hjembo continued to look comfortable in the starting setter role, dishing out a match-high 37 assists. Defensively,
Shelbee Berringer dug 18 Cardinal attacks, and
Megan Nash collected four blocks.
Central Arkansas is on the road again next week, travelling to New Orleans for a 6:30 match on Thursday evening and then heading to Hammond, Louisiana for an 11:00 AM match on Saturday morning.
