Kansas City, Mo. – After opening conference play over the weekend, the Central Arkansas men's soccer team stepped away from the Missouri Valley to take on the Univeristy of Missouri at Kansas City on Tuesday night. The 'Roos took advantage of an early goal to put away the Bears 1-0 on the night.
UMKC (2-4-1) scored the game's only goal in the seventh minute, as Tato Chiaparro lofted a corner kick into the box, where it was headed just inside the near post by Wes White for the 1-0 lead.
Central Arkansas took six shots on the night, compared to 12 from UMKC. Manu Montal led the Central Arkansas attack, placing both of his attempts on target, while Pepe San Roman and Logan Miller each added a shot on goal. UMKC's White was on target with all four of his attempts on the night. Chiaparro put both of his shots on frame, and Patrick Foley was on target with his lone shot.
Chris McGaughey made four saves to earn the win for UMKC, while Harrison Veith took the loss for Central Arkansas, making six saves and allowing a goal.
The Bears return to the pitch on Saturday, taking on the Saint Louis University Bilikens at 7:30 PM.
