MEN’S SOCCER OPENS MVC PLAY WITH LOSS TO MISSOURI STATE

Conway – The Central Arkansas men's soccer team opened Missouri Valley Conference play under the lights at the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex on Friday night. For the first time, UCA lost under the lights at the Stephens, falling to Missouri State 1-0

Missouri State (3-1-2, 1-0 MVC) found the game winner in the 36th minute, as Emmerich Hoegg volleyed home a goal from the top of the 18-yard box to put the maroon Bears up 1-0. The lone goal would prove to be enough as Central Arkansas would take eight shots in the second half, but could place just one on goal.

Missouri State outshot Central Arkansas 12-11 on the night, though UCA held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. Logan Miller led the Bears offensively, taking three shots and placing one on goal. Manu Montal, Jordan Bates, and Pepe San Roman each added a shot on goal.

Addison Watson earned the win for Missouri State, making four saves on the night, while Harrison Veith took the loss for Central Arkansas, making two saves and allowing one goal.

Central Arkansas returns to the field on Tuesday evening, travelling to Kansas City, Missouri to take on the UMKC Roos. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
