Springfield, Mo. – The Central Arkansas women's soccer team was on the road yet again on Friday, travelling to Springfield, Missouri to take on the Bears of Missouri State. Central Arkansas would prove victorious in the battle of the Bears, scoring three second half goals to secure the 3-2 win.
Missouri State (2-3-1) took the lead in the 22
nd minute, when Molly Brewer and Rachel Catrell fed Molly Huber, who slid a shot past Central Arkansas' Anna Hughes to put MSU up 1-0. The maroon Bears would extend their lead to 2-0 in the 40
th minute, when Lauren Fussell intercepted a pass at midfield and beat Hughes for her first goal of the season.
Central Arkansas (4-2-1) was a different team after the break, as the purple Bears attempted all three of their shots in the second half. Dayna Mounie got UCA on the board in the 54
th minute, fielding a long pass from Karly Kliever and chipping it over MSU's Jessica Perry for her fourth goal of the year. Just 35 seconds later, Shelby Wilson slid behind the MSU back line, where Mounie found her. Wilson beat Perry in a 1-on-1 for her third goal of the season, knotting the game at 2-2.
The tie would hold until the 77
th minute, when Cassie Lange and Stacia Carrol would feed a pass to Alex Moore, who blasted it past Perry to put the purple Bears up 3-2.
Hughes earned the win for Central Arkansas, making six saves and allowing a pair of goals, while Perry took the loss for MSU.
Central Arkansas returns to action on Sunday, September 21
st, heading to Monroe, Louisiana to take on the Warhawks of the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
