CONWAY — The Sugar Bears return to the Farris Center on Tuesday when they host Williams Baptist College at 4 p.m. in the first of two home games this week.

After an 88-50 loss at Georgia Tech on Sunday, the Sugar Bears (4-5) look to bounce back against the Lady Eagles (4-6) on Tuesday before facing Blue Mountain College on Friday afternoon. The game will be the third this season for the Sugar Bears against in-state colleges, with wins over Lyon and Central Baptist earlier in the season. The Sugar Bears are 20-5 against in-state competition since 2006.

Tuesday's meeting will be the first between the Sugar Bears and Lady Eagles since 1995, when the teams split a home-and-home series with UCA winning 86-62 in Conway and WBC winning 80-75 in Walnut Ridge. The teams met seven times between 1990-95, with the Sugar Bears holding a 6-1 series advantage.

The Lady Eagles are coached by Carol Halford, who is in her 31st season at WBC with a 462-376 career record. She has guided WBC to five consecutive winning seasons in NAIA Division I, and in the early 1990s guided the Lady Eagles to back-to-back National Christian College Athletic Association national championship game appearances, winning the title in 1993.

Meagan Goza, a 6-foot senior forward from Lake City, Ark., leads WBC with 13.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Da'Monique Brown, a 5-foot-7 freshman guard out of Rivercrest High School, averages 9.3 points and a team-best 3.0 assists per game.

The Lady Eagles have played Blue Mountain (the Sugar Bears' opponent on Friday) twice this season, winning the first meeting 76-67 before losing at BMC 68-58 two weeks later.

After this week's games against WBC and BMC, the Sugar Bears will not resume play until Dec. 30 when they host Austin Peay in the final non-conference game of the season. Southland play begins Jan. 3 at Abilene Christian, followed by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and defending league co-champion Stephen F. Austin coming to Conway on Jan. 6 and 8.
