Houston, Texas – The Central Arkansas volleyball team headed to Houston, Texas on Tuesday to play in their final Southland Conference road match of the season against Houston Baptist. The Sugar Bears hit above .100 in just one set on the night, falling to the Huskies 3-0.
Central Arkansas (17-10, 12-3 SLC) hit .065 to drop the first set 25-22 before hitting .045 in the second set to fall 25-23. The Sugar Bears looked more like their usual selves in the third set, hitting .265, but were unable to turn the tide of the match, falling 26-24.
Heather Schnars and
Evie Singleton each collected a team-high nine kills, while
Alicia Dittrich and
Megan Nash each added seven kills.
Kristine Hjembo dished out 20 assists on the night and
Amy South pitched in with 12. Defensively, the Sugar Bears were led by Schnars and
Shelbee Berringer, who each had 14 digs, while Schnars also turned in a team-high 4 blocks.
Houston Baptist (14-15, 8-6 SLC) got a match-high 12 kills from Megan McStravick and 35 assists from Kayla Armer, while Haley Hoffman dug 16 Central Arkansas attacks.
The Sugar Bears close out their SLC schedule on Thursday night at the Prince Center, celebrating Senior Night against Southeastern Louisiana. The match is set to begin at 7:00 PM.
