SUGAR BEARS FALL TO FIRST-PLACE LADYJACKS

Nacogdoches, Texas – The Central Arkansas volleyball team returned to the court for the first time since losing their first match in over years on Saturday afternoon, squaring off and the Southland Conference-leading Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks. The Sugar Bears were unable to get much going on the day, hitting just .050 on the day as they were swept for the second consecutive match.

Stephen F. Austin (19-7, 12-0 SLC) hit at least .267 in all three sets, taking the first 25-20, the second 25-16, and the third 25-14, while Central Arkansas (15-9, 10-2 SLC) failed to hit above .118 in any set.

The Central Arkansas offense was led on the day by middle blocker Fulani Petties, who had nine kills, and Heather Schnars, who had eight. Amy South dished out 16 assists for the Sugar Bears, while Shelbee Berringer had 10 digs. Jill Ivy turned in a match-high 13 kills for SFA, while Paige Holland handed out 36 assists. On the defensive side, OJ Olson had 14 digs, and Justice Walker picked up eight blocks.

Central Arkansas returns home for a pair of games next week. The Sugar Bears will host Houston Baptist at the Prince Center on Thursday night at 7:00 PM, before welcoming Southeastern Louisiana for a match on Saturday at noon.
