Hammond, La. – The Central Arkansas volleyball team was back in action on Saturday morning, travelling to Hammond, Louisiana to take on the Lady Lions of Southeastern Louisiana. The Sugar Bears outhit the Lady Lions .245 to .154 on the day, picking up the 3-1 victory to improve to 5-0 in SLC play.
Central Arkansas (10-7, 5-0 SLC) hit .382 to win the first set 25-16 before hitting .351 to take the second set 25-17. Southeastern Louisiana rebounded in the third set, hitting .258 to win the set 25-21. The Lady Lions led the fourth set 20-18 before the Sugar Bears went on a 7-3 run to take the set 25-23.
Evie Singleton led the Central Arkansas offense on the day, hitting .319 while tallying a season-high 25 kills and adding 10 digs.
Heather Schnars had 20 kills and six digs.
Kristine Hjembo keyed the Central Arkansas attack, dishing out a match-high 48 assists. Defensively,
Shelbee Berringer turned in a match-high 27 digs.
Central Arkansas returns to the court on Thursday, hosting McNeese State at the Prince Center at 7:00 PM. The Sugar Bears will then host Nicholls at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
