CONWAY — Central Arkansas will look to end its four-game losing streak tonight in the Farris Center when the Sugar Bears host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 5:30.

UCA head coach Sandra Rushing will be coaching barefoot as part of the athletic department's fundraising efforts for Samaritan's Feet. Wristbands will be sold at the game for $10, which covers the cost of a pair of shoes for a needy child, and those purchasing wristbands will be entered into a drawing to win a March Madness 75th Anniversary basketball signed by 1994 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player Corliss Williamson, the head coach of the UCA men's basketball team.

There will be four consolation prizes in the form of Nike Dri-Fit Central Arkansas basketball t-shirts, also autographed by Williamson. The drawing will be held at halftime of the men's game, which immediately follows the women's game, and winners must be present to claim their prize.

The Sugar Bears (13-10, 6-6 Southland) return home after dropping a pair of close games on the road at Stephen F. Austin and Northwestern State last week to send them to their longest losing streak since the end of the 2008-09 season. It is the first time this year's senior class has experienced a four-game losing skid.

They will be facing off against an Islander team that is just 2-20 overall for the season and 1-10 in Southland Conference play. But the Islanders' lone conference win came in their last game as they scored a 60-59 win over McNeese State, which defeated the Sugar Bears 77-61 in the Farris Center last month.

Thursday's clash will be the second meeting of the season for the Sugar Bears and Islanders, with the Sugar Bears winning 55-40 in Corpus Christi in January. The Sugar Bears have won the last three meetings against A&M-Corpus Christi, winning by an average of 18.3 points per game with none being closer than 15.

Two-thirds of the way through the conference season with six games remaining, the Sugar Bears sit in 6th place in the league standings at 6-6 – though they are just one game behind 4th-place McNeese State (7-5) and one game ahead of Stephen F. Austin and Northwestern State, who are tied for 7th at 5-7.

Senior forward Megan Herbert leads the conference in scoring, posting 19.6 points per game in conference play. Junior Courtney Duever is eighth at 15.1. The duo is also second and third, respectively, in rebounding with Herbert averaging 11.2 per game and Duever 8.6. Duever also ranks eighth in field goal percentage (.500) and third in free throw percentage (.844) in Southland games.

After Thursday's game, the Sugar Bears play their final five regular-season games against the Southland's top four teams, with league leader Sam Houston State coming to the Farris Center on Saturday. The Sugar Bears then play three straight on the road, traveling to third-place Oral Roberts next week Tuesday before a going to second-place Lamar and fourth-place McNeese on Feb. 28 and March 2. The Sugar Bears conclude their regular season at home on March 9 with ORU in the Farris Center.
