Conway – The Central Arkansas men's soccer team celebrated Senior Night on Friday, honoring the career achievements of seven players who would be taking the pitch for the final time in a Central Arkansas uniform. After the ceremony, the Bears and the Bulldogs of Drake University played to a 1-1 draw.
The Bears (4-11-2, 0-4-2 MVC) took an early lead in the third minute, when senior David Ngwenya lofted a cross into the Drake box, where Logan Miller collected it and slammed it home for his fifth goal of the season. Drake (8-7-4, 3-1-2 MVC) would find an equalizer four minutes later off a cross of their own that Nick Marshall was able to reel in and put away to knot the score at 1-1. Neither team was able to grab an advantage for the rest of regulation or during the overtime periods.
Central Arkansas outshot Drake 22-10 on the night, led by senior Taylor Hart, who was on target with four of his seven shots.
Ngwenya placed two of his shots on frame and Miller was on goal with two of his three attempts. Addison Eck was the only Bulldog to attempt multiple shots on the night, placing one of his two shots on goal. Marshall and Danton Irelan were each on target once. Senior Patzi Shortsleeve manned the net for the Bears, making two saves and allowing one goal, while Darrin MacLeod made eight saves and allowed one goal for Drake.
