CONWAY — After winning 22 in a row at home dating back to 2011, Central Arkansas dropped its second game in the Farris Center in a week's time as the Sugar Bears fell 70-64 to Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday.
A week after dropping their first home game in nearly two years to McNeese State last Thursday, the Sugar Bears (13-7, 6-3 Southland) suffered another home setback as the Lady Lions (9-11, 2-7) recorded their first win in Conway since 2009.
The Sugar Bears got 53 points from Megan Herbert and Courtney Duever, who were 21 of 38 (55.3 percent) but the rest of the team added just 11 points and shot 21.7 percent (5 of 23). Herbert, who was one off her season high with 32 points, moved into third place in school history in scoring with 2,117 – passing Caronica Randle, who played at UCA from 2003-07 and was an assistant coach with the Sugar Bears the last four seasons.
Herbert was 8 for 10 at the free throw line, moving into a tie with Carone Harris for second place on the school's career list – one behind Randle's school record of 597.
Duever had 21 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, recording her fourth straight double-double. Desiree' Rogers had eight rebounds, a team-high six assists and team-high three steals. She also had six of the Sugar Bears' 21 turnovers, which Southeastern Louisiana converted into 24 points.
The Lady Lions were led by senior forward Brandi Simmons, who had 16 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore guard Elizabeth Styles had 16 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Nanna Pool and Symone Miller were also in double figures scoring, getting 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Central Arkansas will conclude its four-game home stand on Saturday, hosting Nicholls State at 2 p.m.
