The Central Arkansas Bears beat the Lipscomb University Lady Bisons 1-0 Friday afternoon to move to 3-0 on the season, their best start since starting the 2005 season with five consecutive victories.
The Bears struck early when, in the 10
th minute, Adriana Lucar fielded a throw in from Lauren Trueheart and dribbled through the box before putting the ball in from 10 yards out. The goal would prove to be the only one of the day, although both teams continued to put pressure on each other throughout the game.
The Bears took 14 shots on the afternoon, spreading the load almost evenly. Lucar was the only Bear to take multiple shots on the day, leading the way with two. Of Central Arkansas’ shots, eight were placed on goal. The Lady Bisons (1-2-0) took 13 shots on the day, placing five on goal. They were led by Caroline Chadwell who placed three of her six shots on goal.
Erin Zerio took the loss for Lipscomb, despite making seven saves on the day. Kelsey Gochnauer got the start in goal for the Bears and made one save during her half of play. Lyndzey Goff came on in the second half for Central Arkansas and made four saves.
The Bears host the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters in Conway on Sunday afternoon at 1:00. They return to the road next weekend, traveling to Itta Bena, Mississippi to square off against Mississippi Valley State on Friday, and Huntsville, Alabama to battle Alabama State on Sunday.
