CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas surrendered a single goal but was unable to come up with an answer and suffered a 1-0 defeat to Lipscomb University on Sunday at the Bill Stephens Track/Soccer Complex.
Lipscomb (3-3) got the game’s only score when Andie Thornton put the ball into an empty net from about 10 feet out in the middle of the field after UCA goalkeeper Kelsey Gochnauer had been drawn out of the goal.
The Bears (1-3-1) missed the mark on all their scoring opportunities, the last coming in the final minute when junior Julie Foerster’s free kick sailed just high of the goal.
UCA played the majority of the match without senior forward Brittney Warren, who went down with an injury in the first half.
The Bears will host Prairie View A&M Friday at 2 as the first part of a doubleheader with the UCA men taking on IUPUI afterward.
