EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Central Arkansas surrendered a season-high five goals and suffered its seventh shutout loss of the year as the Bears fell 5-0 to Evansville in the 2010 season finale.
Evansville (7-9-1, 3-4-0 MVC) led 2-0 at the half on goals from Jarrett Robbins and Robby Lynch, then tacked on three more in the second period. Philip Manga scored in the 61st minute, Gavin Chura followed that up with a goal in the 64th and Lynch rounded out the scoring in the 81st minute on a header from Blake Schneider's free kick. Schneider had two assists in the game.
UCA (3-13-0, 0-7-0) had 10 shots, with Zac Burns and Wynne Mason each recording a shot on goal for the Bears. Goalkeeper Greg Brooks recorded three saves in the loss.
For the season, Mason and Joseph Cervantes tied for the team lead with three goals. Ethan Miller and Mickey Segura each had two, with Alex Parker and Alex Ghaffari contributing one apiece. Parker had a team-high three assists, with Ghaffari and Nick Figaro each adding two. Mason's seven points led the team.
Ivan Zarate had 38 saves in 11 games at goalkeeper before going down with injury. In his relief, Brooks played in six games – starting five – and made 24 saves.
