DES MOINES, Iowa – The University of Central Arkansas men's soccer team nearly had its first-ever Missouri Valley Conference victory on Saturday, but a goal in the first minute of the second overtime gave Drake a 2-1 victory over the Bears.
UCA (3-12, 0-6 MVC) took a 1-0 lead in the 6th minute of play when Mickey Segura pounded one into the upper right corner of the net for his second goal of the season, but Drake (7-7-2, 3-2-1) answered in the 75th minute on a goal from Charles Schwartz.
The teams finished regulation knotted up at one, and neither team was able to get on the board in the first overtime. Then, in the second overtime, Drake's Evan Harrison hit a header from five yards out past UCA keeper Greg Brooks for the deciding goal just 34 seconds into the period for the decisive goal.
Drake took 22 shots in the game, with eight on goal. UCA had nine and six.
UCA will finish the season on the road at Evansville next Saturday.
