McKINNEY, Texas — After dropping four straight, Central Arkansas won for the second time in three days Friday, defeating Houston Baptist 2-1in front of a crowd of 1,000 at a neutral-site meeting in McKinney Texas.

The Bears (3-6) fell behind in the 37th minute on a goal from HBU's Lorne Cameron off Tanner Fyfe's corner kick, but kept the Huskies (2-5-1) off the board the remainder of the night.

UCA drew even with HBU in the 59th minute when Joseph Cervantes knocked in a header off a free kick from Zac Burns, then took the lead in the 70th minute when Ethan Miller scored unassisted on a shot that skimmed in just under the crossbar.

HBU nearly took the lead early in the first half, getting a golden opportunity on a penalty kick by Joelle Daniel. Daniel's shot was kept out of the net as UCA goalkeeper Ivan Zarate pitched to his right, making a diving catch to keep the score knotted at zero. Zarate had three saves in all.

It was the second straight 2-1 win for the Bears, who defeated Alabama A&M by the same score on Wednesday.

The Bears will travel to Memphis on Tuesday before resuming Missouri Valley Conference play on Oct. 13 at home against Eastern Illinois.
