Brittany Newberry

Entering her 3rd season on the Central Arkansas staff, Brittany Newberry has helped to oversee the most dominant stretch in program history as the Sugar Bears have become one of the nation's most successful Division I teams in recent years.

In 2012 and 2013, the Sugar Bears went a combined 59-9 (the 2nd most wins in Division I during that period behind only Penn State), made consecutive NCAA Tournaments and won back-to-back Southland Conference regular season and tournament championships – the 1st team in the league to do so in 23 years.

During her time on the UCA bench, the Sugar Bears have defeated Top 25 teams, broken into the Top 45 nationally in RPI, maintained perfect APR scores, and have produced one Southland Conference Player of the Year, one Southland Student-Athlete of the Year, two Southland Setter of the Year awards and six 1st team all-Southland selections.

In all, Newberry brings over 15 years of volleyball experience to the Central Arkansas coaching staff.

Her coaching career began at the middle school level, and in January of 2010 she was named the head coach at Conway Christian High School. In her second season at Conway Christian, she led the team to a conference-runner-up finish and a third-place finish in the state tournament. Both rank as the best finish the program has ever achieved. In February of 2012, Newberry, along with her husband John, joined the staff at Central Arkansas.

As a player, she was a member of the prestigious Texas Advantage Volleyball Club in Arlington, Texas for three years, earning a spot on the 18’s National team in her final year.

Newberry earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Central Arkansas in 2008 and completed her Master of Arts in Teaching in 2014.
