Coach Lindsey Kirschman is making her debut as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the UCA Bears this year. Prior to arriving in Conway, she spent 8 years teaching and coaching at Poudre High School in Fort Collins, Colorado. She has always loved the energy and intensity of collegiate athletics and has dreamed of returning since completing her own collegiate athletic career.Â
Â
As an athlete, Kirschman is no stranger to the color purple; she competed in Track and Field for the University of Washington Huskies from 2006-2010. There, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Resource Management. After spending about 18 months pursuing a Master’s degree in Range Science, she found herself sneaking away from the lab to volunteer as a coach for a local high school. She decided to leave the lab behind and pursue her greater passion of impacting young people and obtained a Master’s degree in Education from Colorado State University. Some may consider this non-traditional academic history as a detriment to a career in Strength and Conditioning, but Kirschman actually considers it one of her greatest assets. Her experience as an educator has empowered her to develop the art of engaging and inspiring athletes.Â
Â
Coach Kirschman considers coaching to be a calling, not just a career. She believes athletics is a training ground for the battlefield that is real life- and therefore her primary goal as a Strength and Conditioning coach is to build better men and women- who are physically, mentally and emotionally prepared to combat life’s challenges. Her mission is to empower athletes to rise up and take pride in themselves, their team and the University of Central Arkansas so that they can challenge the status quo, shatter glass ceilings and outcompete the ASUN conference and beyond.Â
