Shane Lamb enters his fifth season as an assistant coach for the Bears, having had a hand in the best run in Central Arkansas program history over his first four seasons. In his first season, the Bears broke the program record for wins (38) and during his four years in Conway the program has averaged 30.8 wins per season, up from 23.4 the five years prior to his arrival. In his time with the program, the Bears have gone 123-97 (.560) overall and 60-42 (.588) in the Southland and are one of just two teams to qualify for the Southland Conference tournament in each of those seasons – winning it in 2015 and advancing to the NCAA Regionals for the first time in program history.
In his time on staff, Lamb has coached 3 NFCA All-Region performers, 20 All-Southland Conference selections, 7 All-Southland Tournament selections, 5 Southland All-Academic honorees and 15 Southland Conference Players of the Week.
Under his tutelage, Bear hitters have broken 13 career program records and program single-season records 14 times.Â
Lamb, a native of Perryville,Ark., played baseball for three seasons at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. He graduated from UCA in 1994.
Lamb previously coached four seasons at Hendrix College as an assistant coach for the Warriors. He coached seven All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference selections and 12 honorable mentions. Prior to Hendrix, Lamb assisted the Conway High School softball team from 2003-09. Under his guidance, the Lady Wampus Cats went 77-31 overall and made two Class 7A State semifinals appearances (2003, 2008). He has also coached the Conway Lady Cats summer team.
