After the two most successful seasons in Central Arkansas softball history, head coach David Kuhn has announced an addition to his coaching staff. Jenna Smart will join Kuhn's staff as the pitching coach.

Smart joins the Central Arkansas softball program after one season at Missouri Southern State University. In her lone season at MSSU, the Lions went 26-24 with a team ERA of 3.35, a noticeable improvement over their 16-35 finish and 6.16 team ERA in 2012.

Prior to joining the staff at MSSU, Smart spent three seasons at Iowa Central Community College working with the pitching staff and serving as the recruiting coordinator. In 2010, Smart's first season with the program, the Tritons finished 55-10 and set a team record with an ERA of just 1.59. In 2011, the Tritons went 45-13 with a 2.88 ERA, and in 2012, ICCC finished 51-9 with a team ERA of 1.89.

Smart began her college coaching career at her alma mater, Delta State, serving as a graduate assistant under a pair of head coaches. In 2008, Smart joined Kuhn's coaching staff, helping lead the Lady Statesmen to a 33-26 record and a 3.46 ERA. In 2009, Smart was a member of Coach Casey Bourgoyne's staff, helping Delta State finish 27-24 with an ERA of 2.92.

In 2007, Smart helped lead the Bayou Academy in Cleveland, Mississippi to the Mississippi Private School Association State Championship.

Smart played at Delta State from 2003 to 2006. During her time with the program, the Lady Statesmen compiled a record of 160-77, while Smart herself was 36-18 in the circle. She finished seventh nationally in saves in 2006, with five, and ranks in the top ten in every major career pitching category for the Lady Statesmen. Smart ranks fourth in ERA (2.17) and strikeouts (330), sixth in wins (33) and games pitched (96), and ninth in innings pitched (374.1). Smart also ranks in the top ten in five single season categories.
