Montgomery begins his first full year as part of the men’s soccer staff at UCA. Born and raised in Little Rock, Montgomery is an experienced soccer coach and technical director with over two decades of involvement in the game at various levels, from youth development to collegiate and semi-professional competition. Known for his expertise in talent identification, performance analysis, tactical strategy, and coach education, Montgomery currently serves in several leadership roles in the state of Arkansas.
Prior to UCA, Montgomery served as the Head Coach of the Little Rock Rangers, leading both the NPSL and USL League Two squads to competitive success. He has guided several players to sign professional contracts, as well as, compete for their national team. Under his leadership, the Rangers captured the 2018 NPSL Heartland Conference Championship, and he was named both Heartland Conference XI Coach and South Region XI Coach that year. As a result of Montgomery success with the Rangers, the club played and hosted the first ever Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in the state of Arkansas in 2019. During his tenure with the Rangers, he posted a record of 41-36-15.
As a player, Montgomery was a prominent midfielder at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock DI men’s soccer program from 1989-92. He earned the team’s defensive player of the year for the 1991-1992 season, and served as the team’s co-captain for the 1992-93 season. Montgomery holds a U.S. Soccer “A” License, a U.S. Director of Coaching License, and is a U.S. Soccer National Coach Educator.
