CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas volleyball team is on the road for a conference match at West Georgia on Thursday at 5 p.m.
The Sugar Bears (1-11, 1-1) enter the match coming off the team's first win of the 2026 season on Saturday against Austin Peay. The match was tight the whole way through with each set besides the first and fifth being decided by just two points (17-25, 27-25, 23-25, 27-25, 15-9).
Central Arkansas got outstanding play from redshirt freshman,
Kennady Martindale, who was named UAC Freshman of the Week for her performance in the win. Martindale led the match with a career high 16 kills, hitting .438 and adding career highs in digs and blocks with six each.
Ella Chaney is also coming in hot after solid performances in the first week of conference play. Chaney tallied a career high 19 kills in Thursday's match against Eastern Kentucky, hitting .313, with eight digs and three assists. The Prosper, Texas native notched her second double-double of the season in Saturday's win over the Govs, recording 13 kills and 10 digs, and adding three blocks, three assists, and an ace.
West Georgia (4-11, 0-3) comes into the match on a five-match losing streak. The Wolves started conference play with a five-set loss to UT Arlington, before losing in straight sets to Abilene Christian on Saturday, and North Alabama on Tuesday.
Brooke McCall leads the team in kills with 184, averaging 3.29 per set, ranking third in the UAC. McCall earned a Freshman of the Week honor for the Wolves after the first week of competition. Anežka Ouředníková leads West Georgia in assists with 434, averaging 7.61 per set, checking in at third on the conference leaderboard.
Milena Ćetković leads West Georgia in blocking with 39, averaging 0.71 per set. Maddy Kirmer is just behind with 38 total blocks, 0.69 per set.
