CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's soccer team couldn't find an equalizer against Tarleton State Thursday night, dropping the UAC opener at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex.
The Bears (3-5-2, 0-1-0 UAC) had chances throughout both halves, but only found an equalizer for the first Texan goal.
Caroline Billings notched her fifth goal of the season in the loss.
Central Arkansas had some chances near the 30 minute mark, posting three shots in a span of a few minutes, but all three missed the mark. Tarleton State was able to counter off of the stops, breaking open the scoring with one to the back of the net in the 30
th minute. But the Bears wasted no time getting theirs back, with
Reese Hanan finding Billings for the Bears' lone goal of the contest just six minutes later. Hanan also posted a shot on goal near the end of the first half, forcing a save from the Texan keeper.
The second half started with a Tarleton State shot on goal just 90 seconds into the half, but the Bears stayed in front of it to keep the match tied. But the pressure from the visitors eventually broke through, with a series of corner kicks resulting in a goal in the 63
rd minute. As time went on, Central Arkansas continued to create pressure in the offensive third, putting up multiple shots in the final ten minutes of the match. But this time, the Bears couldn't answer the score, and ultimately dropped the result.
Central Arkansas is back at home on Sunday, continuing UAC play with an I-40 Showdown against Little Rock. Kickoff on Sunday is set for 7 p.m.
