CONWAY, Ark. – After a stellar week between the pipes, Merrick Cook has been named the ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week, earning his first weekly award of the season.
 
The senior goalie locked up Belmont to secure his first win and first shutout of the season, helping the Bears earn a 2-0 win over the Bruins. Cook tallied seven saves in the win, a season-high and his fourth game as a Bear with at least seven saves.
 
Early in the season, Cook leads the ASUN in goals against average (0.67), saves (11), save percentage (.846), and is one of two ASUN keepers to have a shutout to their name. With Cook between the posts, the Bears have yet to allow multiple goals in a match.
 
Central Arkansas continues its season with a pair of home games up next, hosting Oral Roberts on Friday and Central Baptist College on Monday.
